A very meditative, sonorous piece for guitar and string quartet was composed in 2010 with the work "La serenità dal dentro per Chitarra e Quartetto d'archi" op.17, Nr.7.
In its entirety unagitated, with inner serenity, which the title suggests,
the theme perpetuates itself. The guitar here is not a solo instrument accompanied by the string quartet, but at one time runs parallel and then again seemingly in its own measure and duct.
The work gets its peculiar structure from new motives, each of which demands a different compositional continuation. At the end, Jean François de Guise even lets the work break off completely. No closing formula, no modulation takes place, which leaves listeners and performers alike perplexed.
However, the work lingers in the mind for a long time, reverberating, as it were, and is like a last, unexpected breath that ends everything.
Perhaps that makes it the inner meditation one experiences while listening or playing?
