Product information "Bartók, Béla - Suite after the 44 Violin Duos"
Bartók, Béla
Suite after the 44 violin duos
for 2 violins, viola and violoncello
Béla Bartók (1881-1945) primarily composed the 44 Duos for two violins for teaching purposes (as was also the case with the two piano cycles For Children and Mikrokosmos*). He created musically and structurally extended versions of the movements Rumänischer Drehtanz [Romanian Whirling Dance], Pizzicato, Gram [Sorrow] and Burlesque for piano. This version provided the basis for the current string quartet arrangement. The quartet version of the fifth piece Vorspiel und Kanon [Prelude and Canon] originated from the arranger of the current edition. The original metronome markings are provided in brackets after the relevant tempo indication for the five pieces in the score and the individual parts.
Arranged for string quartet by Claus-D. Ludwig
