Product information "Grieg, Edvard - Sonata in E minor opus 7"

Grieg, Edvard
Sonata in E minor
opus 7
(1865)

for 2 violins, viola and violoncello

Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) was 22 when he composed his Piano Sonata in E minor op. 7 which is dedicated to the Danish composer Nils W. Gade (1817-1890) a mentor to Grieg in his early years. In comparison to many composers of his time, Grieg’s oeuvre contains few chamber music works for strings without piano. The current arrangement enables quartet ensembles to augment their repertoire with a ‘typical’ Grieg piece alongside his famous Quartet in G minor.
