L'Organiste
Pièces pour orgue ou harmonium (1888-1890)
A selection for violin, viola and violoncello
César Franck (1822-1890) is one of the most significant composers of the French Romantic period. Organ music played a prominent role in his creative output. During the last few years of his life, he composed L’Organiste, a collection of short and easy pieces for organ or harmonium for use in church services. Franck originally planned to create 100 pieces arranged systematically according to their keys, but only succeeded in completing 59 of them in a fair copy (up to A flat major).
Twelve of these pieces have been selected for this volume in arrangements for string trio.
