for violin, viola and violoncello

In 1915, Béla Bartók (1881-1945) composed Sonatina and Romanian Folk Dances for piano. Together with the pedagogically oriented collections Mikrokosmos and Für Kinder, also for piano, they are among the composer's most popular works. Since that time, the Romanian Folk Dances in particular have been published in numerous arrangements for a wide variety of instrumentations.
The basis for the present transcription for string trio were the original piano versions.
