Product information "Otto Carl Erdmann - Serenata in F major op.19"
Otto Carl Erdmann
Serenata in F major
for piano, oboe or flute, 2 basset horns or 2 violas and bassoon or violoncello
op. 19
The Serenata was written in 1794. A quintet similar to Mozart's piano quintet with winds KV 452 or Beethoven's op. 16. The Serenata is laid out in the form of a four-movement symphony. The piano part is quite demanding. The piece has pleasant themes and some exciting modulations. The minuet is simple, but the trio is dramatic. The version with winds is extremely attractive because of the basset horns. The work can also be played well with a string quartet accompaniment, violin instead of oboe, the upper viola part could also be played with a violin.
