In the Alpine region, there was a tradition of moving the Christmas story, which in the Bible is clearly located in the Middle East, to the local mountain landscape. The three Advent songs ("Rorate", "Es hat der Kaiser Augustus" as well as "Geh' Hanserl pack' dei Binggerl z'samm") therefore speak of ice and snow or of the clarified butter that the shepherds are supposed to take with them on their journey to the Savior Child.
The songs have been transcribed as faithfully as possible and arranged for male quartet and male choir. The key can be adjusted up or down as needed.
