L'Organiste
Pièces pour orgue ou harmonium (1888-1890)
A selection for 2 violins, viola and violoncello
Volume I
César Franck (1822-1890) is one of the most important composers of the French Romantic period. In his oeuvre, organ music occupies an important and large space. In the last years of his life he wrote L'Organiste, a collection of short and easy-to-play organ or harmonium pieces for use in church services. Of the 100 pieces originally planned, arranged in ascending keys, Franck was unfortunately only able to complete 59 in fair copy by the time of his death (up to A flat major).
A selection of twelve of these pieces is presented here in an arrangement for string trio.
Arranged for string quartet by Claus-D. Ludwig
