In this piece, Jean François de Guise uses a wide variety of playing styles in form and sound design. For example, he uses the string instruments almost percussively in order to make them correspond better with the piano.
That he often lets the rhythms run in a complex "contrapuntal" manner is already known from other works. But the way he uses the sound possibilities of the instruments within these interlaced forms makes clear how precise his idea of music of the present time is.
Technically, he demands a high degree of flexibility and unconditional accuracy in the flow and intonation. Jean François de Guise gives the performers hardly any room for extemporizing, but he prepares the space for virtuoso playing.
Another element in the structure of the piece is the extended 12-tone technique.
