A trio that can only be composed with instruments from the old register presupposes that the composer either knows an ensemble that performs in this line-up, or that he has a tone color in mind for the piece that should sound warm and meditative.
Jean François de Guise superficially fires the assumption of the sound variant, but shows that with a few, targeted effects, points of tension can be created again and again, which make the piece really interesting chamber music and ultimately do not miss the soprano and bass instruments.
