Guise Jean François deConcertofor two solo violas and orchestra
op. 8, No. 1 (1999)
This concerto was written in 1999 on behalf of the Jena Youth Symphony Orchestra. The work, which also corresponds more to a chamber orchestra in its instrumentation, can be performed by amateurs as well as professionals.
The soloists‘ parts are also designed so that they can be mastered by advanced pupils or students. Nevertheless, the work contains everything that can be found in larger orchestral pieces.
The contemporary sound holds many colors, which, however, never seem obtrusive.
Clear structures allow the players as well as the listeners to follow effortlessly.
The fact that de Guise chose a very classical approach here is due on the one hand to the fact that the commission was based on clear wishes, and on the other hand to the fact that the structure and use of thematically recurring motifs were intended to facilitate the work.
Even though the arrangement is rather small, de Guise uses the time in the approximately 6 minutes to set some accents and to bring us closer to his sound world. In any case, it is a beautiful work that paves the way into the world of soloist concertos.

Guise Jean François deshades of nightfor nine instrumental voicesop. 23, no. 5 (2017)"shades of night for nine instrumental voices op.23, Nr.5" is actually a small orchestral piece.Atmospheric, though not striking, a night mood is created, not consisting of imitative sounds, but rather formulating feelings and sensory experiences. The piece does not want to be "program music", i.e. not like Charles Ives' "Central Park in the Dark", but it wants to evoke individually experienced things and to address new thoughts and movements of mind each time. flute, oboe, bass clarinet in Bb, marimba vibraphone, piano, violin, viola, violoncelloscore & 9 parts / 78 pages

Momente musicale3 small nonetsfor oboe, clarinet B flat, horn (F), bassoon and string quintet
Growing up in a village in Brandenburg, east of Berlin, music has always played an important role for me. Piano lessons and music studies, where I trained as a horn player, were the result. When I retired, I began to compose. Here are my 3 little nonets. The title “Momente musicale” does not force me to use a particular form, nor does it require any particular thematic treatment. The music is simply allowed to flow along, and that can give the musicians as well as the listeners a lot of pleasure.

Jusdorff, Johann Carl2me Concerto pour la FluteNew edition based on the first printing by B. Schott from the collection of Dr. Eckart Rohlfs. There are few composers about whom prints of their works are preserved in the archives, but about whom not even the life data can be found in the major music encyclopedias, in the catalogs of the major international libraries, and even on the Internet. One of them is Johann Carl Jusdorff, whose only place of activity is mentioned as Göttingen and whose works were printed between 1799 and 1820 by major publishing houses of the time such as Schott in Mainz or André in Offenbach. With his many variation works for flute and his arrangements of folk songs with accompaniment of guitar and often also flute, he probably hit a nerve of the time for a short time, only to disappear just as quickly into oblivion and be forgotten again shortly thereafter. His Variations op.1 were even so successful that they experienced a second edition after 10 years. Probably he was a very good flutist who composed a large part of his works, including his probably 3 flute concertos, mainly for his own use. Or he wrote them for his students, as the dedication of the variations might suggest: "dedicated to the lovers of this instrument for practice in multiform changes". His three flute concertos were probably written toward the end of his career. The first bears the highest known opus number 28, the other two are merely numbered consecutively. The 2nd flute concerto presented here is in three movements: an expansive first movement with a long orchestral introduction is followed by a short three-part slow movement (Adagio) and a variation finale so typical of Jusdorff.score and parts / 74 pages / 52 €1 piano reduction with solo flute / 29 pages / 21€1 score / 32 pages / 23€1 set of parts / 42 pages / 30€
