The guitar here is not a solo instrument accompanied by the string quartet, but at one time runs parallel and then again seemingly in its own measure and duct.The work gets its peculiar structure from new motives, each of which demands a different compositional continuation. At the end, Jean François de Guise even lets the work break off completely.
