Bartók, BélaOld Dance Tunes from: “Hungarian Peasant Songs” for piano for 2 violins, viola and violoncello Béla Bartók (1881-1945) travelled through the villages of Hungary and its neighbouring countries on musical-ethnological research trips, collecting and notating innumerable folk melodies. Bartók, Béla - Suite after the 44 Violin Duos
Bartók, BélaSuite after the 44 violin duos for 2 violins, viola and violoncello Béla Bartók (1881-1945) primarily composed the 44 Duos for two violins for teaching purposes (as was also the case with the two piano cycles For Children and Mikrokosmos*). He created musically and structurally extended versions of the movements Rumänischer Drehtanz [Romanian Whirling Dance], Pizzicato, Gram [Sorrow] and Burlesque for piano. This version provided the basis for the current string quartet arrangement. The quartet version of the fifth piece Vorspiel und Kanon [Prelude and Canon] originated from the arranger of the current edition. The original metronome markings are provided in brackets after the relevant tempo indication for the five pieces in the score and the individual parts. Arranged for string quartet by Claus-D. Ludwig  score & 4 parts / 24 pages

Bartók, Béla – For Children [Gyermekeknek] Volumes I and II for string quartet
Bartók, BélaFor Children   [Gyermekeknek]Volumes I and II (1908-11, rev. 1943)for 2 violins, viola, and violoncello From 1908 to 1911, Béla Bartók (1881-1945) wrote the piano pieces For Children [Gyermekeknek]. They are based exclusively on folk melodies that Bartók collected and wrote down during his travels to villages in Hungary and neighboring countries. Primarily designed for piano lessons, they remain an indispensable part of basic music education today, along with the similarly pedagogically oriented piano cycle Mikrokosmos and the 44 Duos for Two Violins. In 1943, Bartók revised For Children and added titles (here in German and English) to some of the movements. The original metronome markings are indicated in brackets after the respective tempo word. Arranged for string quartet by Claus-D. Ludwig   Score & 4 parts / 48 pages
