Guise Jean François deAria: Bist du bei mir(original for voice and piano) - BWV 502for voice, organ and trumpetarranged by Jean François de GuiseJean François de Guise was commissioned to make an arrangement of the aria: "Bist du bei mir" by Johann Sebastian Bach. The original work is from the "Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena Bach" and bears the number BWV 508.In Bach's oeuvre there are numerous pieces that he created for organ and trumpet. Especially his chorale preludes belong to the repertoire of every serious musician for trumpet players until today. Likewise, the instrumentation of voice and organ, well established in the worship service, and always proves grateful. That singing, trumpet and orchestra also work in church music is known to everyone who has heard, for example, the famous aria "Großer Herr und starker König" from the Christmas Oratorio or the solo cantata "Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen".It was also from these experiences that the piece presented here was commissioned for Eternity Sunday. In order to make performances possible even in a small ensemble, Jean François de Guise decided to create an arrangement for voice, trumpet and organ. He not only added a solo part for the trumpet here, but also incorporated an interlude that does not appear in the original. This makes the piece a real little solo aria.Since most trumpeters today play on the German concert trumpet in Bb, this was the first choice for the score and as a single part in the edition. However, in order to give musicians who prefer the C notation the opportunity to play the work, a C part is also included in the edition. This can then be used equally for the piccolo trumpet.voice, 2 trumpets, organscore and 4 parts / 27 pages

Guise Jean François deThree easy meditations for OrganOp. 12 No.10 (2001)Jean François de Guise, who also worked as an organist for a long time, created several works for the organ that were specifically intended for meditations or devotions.Since these pieces work immediately, fit on the large organ as well as on instruments that have only one manual, and do not demand too much of the beginner, but are nevertheless effective in sound, they are heard again and again in concerts. The works also find their way into organ lessons. That they are jewels of music is additionally documented by the fact that the three pieces were published for the first time in 2001 and have meanwhile (2015) appeared in the 3rd edition.Playing score / 6 pages
Guise Jean François deContemplation for OrganOp. 12 No.4 (2005)In 2005 Jean François de Guise composed the organ piece "Contemplation for organ".In this work he dealt with the organ as an instrument of the 21st century, inspired by a call for entries for a competition for contemporary church music. Despite the fact that the deadline for the competition had passed, he accepted the challenge for himself and created a piece that dealt with the extended 12-tone technique and transcribed it for the organ. The difficulty here was the layout of the organ itself, because, various stops, such as those represented by the octave stops, which sound tones in "other" registers, could easily interfere with the music-theoretical construction and thus appear inconclusive. The composer also chose a polyrhythmic structure that further methodically counterpoints the tonal discussions, which could have invoked further dilemmas. However, Jean François de Guise manages to make the piece emerge, as it were, gradually, which is achieved through sporadic cluster structures that break up already established structures and thus push the work in a new direction. This unwinds a dynamic in its development that keeps the conclusion completely open until the end.Playing score / 8 pages
Guise Jean François deMusique d'Église pour OrgueOp. 12 No.2Again and again Jean François de Guise dedicates himself to the organ, so also in the volume "Musique d'Église" from the year 2000. That he comes from the "school" of Jean Langlais is clearly recognizable here and so it is not surprising that here the French organ music gets its place, as one gets to hear it in the churches of France. Nevertheless, one recognizes the handwriting of Jean François de Guise. It is perhaps somewhat surprising that he makes dynamic entries, as we know them from the piano literature. These result from the consideration that the pieces are also possible on the piano and at the same time the compositional idea can be transported. The composer already performed the individual pieces several times in 2000, played parts from the volume in organ concerts and used them for a CD.To this day, the works are performed again and again in church services and concerts, since they are also suitable for organists who are not yet quite so familiar with pedal playing.Playing score / 22 pages
Guise Jean François deOrgan pieces Volume I.Op. 12thPerforming score / 51 pagesThe organ pieces published in this anthology are primarily intended as solo pieces for organ.Registrations have been deliberately avoided because the pieces can be played on both small and large organs. Here the organist is responsible for finding the optimal sound for his instrument. The dynamics shown here are only intended to provide assistance. The level of difficulty is to be regarded as high, since the rhythm and tone sequences differ from the usual habits in church music.

Guise Jean François dePastorale for OrganOp. 12 No.5 (2009)One of the most common forms of pieces written for the organ is probably that of the pastoral. Jean François de Guise also chose this title for his work.Originally, the pastoral refers to a piece in the style of a shepherd's song.Naturally, such a designation points in a certain direction. Thus, the arrangement in three beats and the use of the flute register is predetermined.Jean François de Guise also gets involved musically. He presents here a work that is tonally beautiful and versatile, so the piece has been performed in church services as well as in concerts and can, through its medium level of difficulty, also serve students for practice.Playing score / 3 pages

Guise Jean François dethree small easy pieces for Organop. 12, No. 33 (2021)"three small easy pieces for organ" is how Jean François de Guise named the pieces for organ written in 2021.However, the title is somewhat deceptive, for the three short pieces are hardly simple in the sense of easy.Arranged in the extended 12-tone technique and quite playfully in the middle range, the works are a preparation for larger compositions by the composer. They will probably be heard more in concert than, for example, in a church service. Unfortunately, organists still lack the courage to present new works to the congregations. Jean François de Guise does this consistently and with great approval. The first performance in 2021, in a church service was met with great appreciation and so some time later the pieces were included as requested pieces in a program dealing exclusively with contemporary organ music.Playing score / 8 pages
Guise Jean François deTrois Feux de Saint-Elme pour OrgueOp. 12 No.1In 1999 Jean François de Guise composed three light meditations, which not only describe the natural phenomenon with "Trois Feux de Saint-Elme".If one dives into the music, one gets the feeling that must arise when one sees the luminescent images that illuminate the Nordic sky in a ghostly way.If one then knows that these pieces were written for a picture devotion, which took place on Christmas Eve in the night mass, one can guess which unheard-of effect was unfolded by this music. But even without this background knowledge, Jean François de Guise's compositions do not fail to make an impact. The minimalist registration marked in the volume is meant to represent an idea and not to be binding. Soft, warm, flowing sounds want to be achieved. Never should a superficial sounding arise. The individual structures in the work must appear, but they must never become superficial. If one looks at the pieces further, one notices that they are superficially quite simply structured, but, the use of the chords and the "double pedal" clearly indicate that these are not pieces for beginners. The pitfalls here are truly in the details. In addition to some technical playing challenges, everything must remain transcendent, which is probably the greatest difficulty in performance.OrganPlaying score / 12 pages
Kreuzlinger Franz Da pacem, DominePeace QuodlibetFor organFrom three musical prayers for peace, a quodlibet was composed at the beginning of March 2022, which negotiates the struggle for peace. In three stanzas, the harmonically intertwined lines, taken from the Gregorian chant and the motet "Verleih uns Frieden" by Felix Mendelssohn, are each re-layered and thus heard in ever-changing ways.Playing score / 3 pages
Kreuzlinger FranzGerman measurement propriumfor choir (SATB), congregation (ad lib.), trombone, harp, percussion, dulcimer and organThe German Mass Proprium based on psalm texts was mainly created in 2008 and is seen by its composer as a major compositional work. The very cast of the instrumental ensemble that gathers the biblical instruments of praise gives the work its very own touch. Never leaving the tonality entirely, the work does not deny the alpine origins of its creator, which is partly reminiscent of Carl Orff, partly of Arthur Honegger. The delightful choral part can also be easily performed by ambitious amateur choirs.

Franz KreuzlingerAve maris stella
for guitar and organ
The Marian hymn “AVE MARIS STELLA” is the basis for the five-movement Partita for guitar and (small) organ. In addition to the melodic material, the basic mood of the guitar also forms the tonal source material for the individual movements, which are given a diverse range of sounds, particularly by the different positions of the organ.

Puccini, GiacomoRequiem(1905)for tenor, choir and organ
Arranged by Franz Kreuzlinger
In memory of his teacher Guiseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini wrote a small „Requiem” for viola, choir and organ in 1905. On the occasion of the Puccini year 2024, Franz Kreuzlinger wrote a version in which the solo viola part becomes a solo tenor part. The choir can be performed originally on the organ or by a string orchestra. At the same time, a purely instrumental version was created for solo cello or solo viola and strings, which turns the choral work into an impressive instrumental meditation.

Wolfgang Amadeus MozartSerenata ex CA Very Little Night MusicKV648Arranged for organ by Franz KeuzlingerIn September 2024, the „Serenata ex C“ - given the affectionate title „A Very Little Night Music“ - was awakened from its slumber after over 250 years. Franz Kreuzlinger immediately created a version for organ. Some of these movements can also be performed by the less advanced organist and are also suitable as intermediate music in the liturgy. Overall, the result is an interesting performance piece that represents a worthwhile challenge. Here you can find a demo clip on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7BhnXDhFkcPlaying score / 9 pages
